Senior Business Strategist
Michael is a Senior Advisor at Communicopia where he helps clients focus on their personal and organizational core purpose while efficiently achieving concrete, near-term results. He is an accomplished venture and initiative builder with strong roots in the creative and online industries, renewable energy, and social change finance.
Michael comes to Communicopia after over a decade as founder, manager, professional investor, and advisor to emerging entities with a social or environmental vision. He has founded a non-profit organization and several private sector ventures in multimedia, creative services, and renewable energy, and has played various executive and consultant roles in companies ranging from early stage startups to Microsoft, Accenture, and eBay Canada. Over his career he has also been active in the community serving on E-Business Opportunities Roundtable and as an advisor to Industry Canada on the federal innovation strategy.
Michael currently is managing the startup of an initiative under Tides Canada Foundation to accelerate the Canadian social finance marketplace and is an advisor to Merchants of Green Coffee, a pioneer in the sustainable coffee movement. He holds positions on the Board of Directors for the Windfall Ecology Centre, a pioneer in Ontario’s sustainable energy community and Clean Energy Developments, a company systematically increasing the adoption of renewable energy in production residential housing. Michael holds an Honours Business Administration Degree with a Minor in Economics from Wilfrid Laurier University and is a professionally trained facilitator through the Institute of Cultural Affairs. He is a proud father and lives with his family in London, Ontario.
