Play the Nothing But Nets Game!

Apr 11, 2008  |  by Darrell Houle

Last week, the Communicopia and the United Nations Foundation released a fun, life-saving game to raise awareness about World Malaria Day. It's always fun working with the UNF, but this time it was especially so working alongside colleagues Change Creative and Dana Brousseau.

The premise of the game is simple - you are given a bunch of bed nets, and you get to drive your moped through the African landscape, delivering them to all the people you see. The goal is to distribute as many nets as possible before the sun sets in the game - because at that point, the mosquitos come out, carrying the deadly malaria virus.

The best part about this game isn't just that it's fun - or even that it features a killer sunset across your screen. The best part is that for every time you play the game, and provide your email address, the UNF will send a bed net to Africa (courtesy of a generous anonymous donor) - and those bed nets really do save lives.

Please take a moment to play the game, and see how many nets you can deliver before the sun goes down. Then, send the game on to your friends. Thanks!
